An applicant for admission to one of the undergraduate programs of EMU must satisfy the following requirements:
The applicant must provide a certified copy of their secondary school certificate or equivalent, along with other relevant certified documents like transcripts, to EMU.
Applications to the undergraduate programs are accepted twice a year.
High School Diploma, Higher Secondary School Certificate, GCSE, Higher Secondary Certificate, Secondary School Leaving Certificate, Testimonial, Secondary Education Certificate, Senior School Certificate, Matriculation Examination Certificate, SAT, WAEC, WASSCE, NECO, JAMB, BACCALAUREATE.
Note: English translations required for documents not in English.
Students with an Associate Degree or National Diploma can apply as transfer students to the Bachelor's Degree programs at Eastern Mediterranean University.

Applicants will be granted admission in two categories
Newly admitted students usually spend their first year at EMU in the English Preparatory Year Program. The program aims to develop English proficiency and help students adjust to the EMU environment, fostering self-discipline and study habits necessary for success in university-level studies.
Admitted EMU students proficient in English may directly register for freshman classes without enrolling in the English Preparatory Year Program.

A significant number of international students receive 50% and 25% scholarships based on their academic performance and program choice. Full scholarships for undergraduate and PhD students are also available, but are highly competitive. PhD scholarship applications are made during the online graduate application, while undergraduate full scholarship applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee before the semester starts. Admission to the desired program is required for consideration.
This scholarship is for top 1% undergraduate applicants from each country's secondary school graduates. All applications will be evaluated in August based on criteria approved by the EMU Board of Trustees, including educational system and standardized test results.
The scholarship includes tuition for the program duration, free accommodation in a double room, and 3 meals a day.
This scholarship is for high-performing undergraduate applicants from each country's university entrance system. Only 2 students per country per year will receive it. Applications will be evaluated by 14 August 2023. If students with a 100% Tuition Fee Waiver don't register, their applications will be considered for the next semester. Criteria include the educational system and standardized test results. Scholarship covers tuition fees for the regular program duration.
Note: Late %100 scholarship applications cannot be considered.
Undergraduate and associate degree students who have completed the normal course load and achieved a minimum GPA of 3.50 and a CGPA of 3.00 or higher are eligible for the "High Honor Award". The top ten students in each faculty or school who meet these requirements will receive the award.
The ranking is determined at the end of the second semester by ranking the grade point averages (GPA) of students in the relevant faculty or school from highest to lowest. If students have the same GPA, the one with a higher Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is ranked higher.
EMU offers sports grants for outstanding performance in individual or team sports. The grant covers education expenses such as tuition and/or dormitory accommodation fees. The specific details, duration, and conditions of the grant are regulated by the principles for "Eastern Mediterranean University Sports Grants Application" approved by the University Executive Board and Board of Trustees.
Student assistantship positions are available in different faculties and administrative departments at the university. They are open to all students with a GPA above 2.0. Vacancies for these positions are announced at the start of each semester. The monthly stipend is determined by hourly rates.
Each semester, faculties assign research assistant positions to graduate students. Full-time research assistants receive tuition fee exemptions and a salary. Part-time positions are also available. Scholarships for research assistants at EMU are regulated by the "Regulation for Research Assistant Appointment and Postgraduate Scholarship Application.”
Siblings studying at EMU receive a 25% discount for the first two siblings who meet the criteria. Additional siblings receive a 75% discount. Post-graduate students who do not receive any tuition fee discounts or support from the University can get a 10% discount for siblings.
Successful students can apply for scholarships for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) through TRNC consular missions abroad or Republic of Turkey consular missions abroad.
EMU is a full member of the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, Community of Mediterranean Universities and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. Giving special importance to international recognition, EMU has received the accreditation of various prominent international accrediting bodies. EMU is only one of five universities in the region to have been awarded the prestigious ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in the field of engineering.
Similarly, EMU Architecture Faculty holds the MİAK accreditation. Business and Economics Faculty, Tourism Faculty and School of Computing and Technology have been granted the accreditation of FIBAA. Education Faculty English Language Teaching (ELT) Department was accredited by AQAS. Additionally, EMU School of Tourism and Hospitality Management gained the accreditation of TEDQUAL and the Computer Technologies and Information Systems offered by School of Computing and Technology (SCT) successfully passed ASIIN accreditation process. EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School has successfully obtained EDEXCEL accreditation. Last but not least, our University’s Business and Economics Faculty is a full member of EFMD and AACSB along with only three universities in Turkey.
The publisher of widely-referenced university rankings in the world, U.K. -based Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the ranking of the best universities in the world on Thursday, 2 September, 2021. In the said ranking, universities were evaluated based on Education, Research, Information Sharing and International Outlook. In the said ranking, the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) took its well-deserved place within the 501-600 band with a remarkable increase from the 801-1000 band, despite the general decline experienced all over the world and the 136 newly added universities.
