North Cyprus’ Hidden Beaches: No Crowds, Just Paradise

Forget the crowded tourist beaches—North Cyprus is home to secret bays, untouched coves, and wildlife-rich shores where you might be the only person for miles. Here’s where to go when you want nature, peace, and perfect sunsets.

Undiscovered Coastal Gems

1. Ronnas Bay (Karpas Peninsula)

  • Unique Features: Pink-tinged sand and sea turtle nests in summer.
  • Access: 90-minute drive from Famagusta; last 10 km is off-road, so rent a 4×4 or cycle in with a sturdy mountain bike.
  • Best Time: May–July for turtle spotting

2. Silver Beach (Near Kyrenia)

  • Student Perks: Free sunbeds if you buy a drink at the hidden cliff café.
  • Secret Tip: Snorkel the west side and you might find ancient amphora shards embedded in coral.
  • Sunset Spot: The natural rock “bench” on the left side of the beach.

3. Alagadi Turtle Beach

  • What Makes It Special: It’s a conservation zone—night patrols protect turtle nests, and students can volunteer!
  • Rules: No flashlights, fires, or music after dark. Red tape marks nesting zones.

Beach Survival Kit

  • Pack:
    • Reef shoes
    • Portable charger
    • Turkish phrasebook for chatting with local fishermen
  • Avoid: Loud Bluetooth speakers—locals value the tranquility.
